To name your business and yourself is a powerful act. It allows you to stand firmly and with clarity. It sounds simple, but it's not easy. In fact, many of us struggle to articulate who we are and what we do on our sites. Our bios are correct but lack specificity. Our prose looks professional but has no pulse. Compelling writing names the what but also captures someone's motivation underpinning it all. That's where someone's personality spills through. That is what I strive to help people articulate in words.      

I am a trained journalist, but I don´t write your About me or Homepage for you. After all, who am I to tell your story? But I do have a good ear for what makes solid and compelling prose. Your prose. 

In about four sessions, I help you reframe the narrative you tell about yourself. I use my journalism skills to support you in making meaning out of the path you have travelled.  And I coach you in your writing process. I spot where fear is diluting your message. Fear is without a doubt the major cause of limp copy. It will shut down your writing in a heartbeat.

What are some things that block us in our writing?

• We focus on our target audience, without knowing our own motivations and desires.

• We fear rejection.  This stops us from daring to say boldly and freely what we are here to do.

• We write in a language that is not our own.  We write in English instead of Dutch, we use marketing language instead of poetry, we try to be mental instead of intuitive and vice versa. 

• We are in transition. We introduce ourselves as a journalist-sort-off, a lawyer- coach but… the old identity doesn’t quite cover it. And we don’t yet know what is emerging.  

• We have talents that come so naturally to us, we are blind to them. These aspects that we take for granted are often the very ingredients that give us our specific style. 

Caroline has the invaluable talent of listening closely. She hears where you place emphasis, and also what you leave unsaid. If you are creating something—a decision, a website, or a story—I highly recommend the guidance of these sessions. Through our conversations and her subsequent encouragement, I was able to close a chapter and begin a new one, full of inspiration and focus.
